It’s a little-known fact that you need licenses to hire skips in the UK. If you have a skip on a public pavement or anywhere that isn’t privately owned such as a driveway, then a permit is required.

At KCM Waste Management, we are experts in skip hire and are an authorised contractor for skip hire within South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. This means that we can take care of your permit with your local council if required.

How much a skip costs will depend on a number of factors including the size of the skip, how long you require the skip for, your local and where you will be placing the skip.

At KCM, our skip hire services start from £95.00 for a 3 tonne skip that can hold approximately 25-35 bin bags. You can get a free, instant quote here.

With KCM skip hire, you can book your skip online through a secure payment portal, meaning faster and safer booking.

Most things can be put in a skip. The main things you should stay away from putting in your skip are hazardous waste and confidential waste.

Waste management is the precise name for the collection, transportation, disposal or recycling and monitoring of waste.

Waste management encompasses management of all processes and resources for proper handling of waste materials. From maintenance of waste transport trucks and dumping facilities to compliance with health codes and environmental regulations.

A waste management plan is a written record of what must be done to achieve your waste goals. These goals could be to recycle more, to reduce waste or to manage construction waste safely and effectively.

KCM can help you create your waste management plan and can execute the collection of the waste you produce.

Here are a few ideas on how to reduce waste at home and recycle better:

Ditch the plastic bags, make a meal plan, start composting, stop buying bottled water, reduce your packaging, go paperless with your bills.

Here are a few ideas to build into your recycling strategy at work:

Conduct regular waste audits, educate your team, stick up recycling signage, learn to repair rather than discard, understand the waste your business creates and the legalities behind it.
