Over the past 6 months, we have been raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital – with the help of our amazing customers and partners.
With lots of support from the wonderful staff at the Hospital and Children’s Hospital Charity, we managed to raise a grand total of £5,000!
Our Fundraising So Far
Our biggest fundraising project this year has been the (almost!) nude charity calendar we made!
We created this calendar with the help of some amazing volunteers of our own KCM team. The 12-page spread featured some rather memorable sights. And made for quite a talking point with our visitors and suppliers!
We managed to sell over 200 calendars. This was more than we expected given that we were in a complete lockdown. Meaning we were very restricted in how we could get our calendars to people.
We also did several sweepstakes around the KCM team to raise some more money in-house and get everyone involved.
At Easter time, we even cleared out our local supermarket and took a bin full of Easter eggs down to the hospital to be shared out amongst the wards. The money to do this was donated entirely from our Directors. Who are always extremely supportive of all our fundraising efforts!
Why the Sheffield Children’s Hospital?
Our fundraising effort for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital all started because of the community sponsorship we already have. A member of one of the many local youth football teams we sponsor unfortunately had to stay in the Children’s Hospital himself. This made us think about what we could be doing to help!
The family ethos running through KCM meant we had to do whatever we could to help raise money for the hospital.
The young boy who stayed in the hospital does lots of fundraising himself and with his family. This inspired our efforts to start fundraising!
As the only children’s hospital in our local area 0f South Yorkshire, the Sheffield Children’s Hospital was the best place to start our fundraising journey.
Where Our Fundraising is Going
We requested for all of the monies raised by KCM to be donated directly to Ward 6 at the Children’s Hospital.
Ward 6 provides care for children suffering from cancer and other blood illnesses. The funds raised will be used to provide upkeep and small updates for the ward.
The money raised for the charity this year will all be going to a complete rebuild of the ward. The hospital is looking to update all the rooms, beds, and technology in the ward to keep up to date and match the exceptional level of care provided by the staff.
Our fundraising for Ward 6 will continue into 2021 with more calendars, raffles and much more!
Our Charity Work in the Local Community
As a family-run business from the local area, we do everything we can to help out in our community.
We currently sponsor sports teams, boxers, equestrian riders, and litter pickers from in and around Rotherham. We also sponsor a number of youth football teams. And do continuous pro forma work for local community sports grounds and centres.
Our skip hire service regularly provides free skips to families in need or to help after an emergency.
We really do take pride in being able to support the community we have grown in.
