What Is The Smallest Skip You Can Hire? | KCM

If it’s time to get your home in order and throw out clutter from the garden shed, you may be thinking about hiring a skip! It’s likely that you don’t need an industrial-sized skip, but what is the smallest skip you can hire, and is it suitable for the job at hand?

At KCM Waste Management we have what you need! We can deliver skips to homes as well as commercial buildings and building sites. Whether the job is big or small, we have you covered.

Uses of a Mini Skip

  • Furniture
  • Carpet
  • Plastics
  • Textiles
  • Glass
  • Polystyrene

Garden Revamps

If your garden waste has gotten out of hand and you don’t have access to a green bin to dispose of your waste, then one of our smaller skips may be ideal to get your garden back to its former glory.

Our small 3-yard skips are suitable for all your garden waste, soil, bricks, rubble, and wood.

Small Home Renovations

We’re all guilty of a cluttered spare room or attic. If the time has come to clear this out and make it into a functional room, then a small skip would be more than sufficient to free up some space in an efficient way.

You can fill up our small skips with general waste, cardboard & paper, small electrical items, furniture, carpet, and more.

DIY Construction Jobs

Summer is the time for home improvements and DIY. However, the thought of trips to the tip or an overflowing bin can put you off.

A small skip conveniently delivered and removed can speed up the DIY process and leave you clean and tidy in no time. You can use our small skips to dispose of minimal plasterboard, wood, bricks and rubble, construction and DIY waste, plastics, textiles, and glass. A skip could be the most convenient and efficient way of removing your waste without you having to lose time or space.

House Clearances

If you’re moving home or need to clear out excess household junk, a small skip may be ideal to remove any unwanted items.

If you have large bulky pieces of furniture to dispose of, then a ‘man in a van’ could be a better option for you. A small skip would be better suited for smaller items to make the most out of your skip’s space.

The Benefits of Hiring a Small Skip

Cost-Efficient

A lot of minor home improvements, and even garden renovation waste, can easily fit into a smaller skip. A mini skip can be cheaper than hiring a ‘man and a van’ to remove the waste for you and it can be more convenient and efficient.

If you order a skip that is too big and isn’t used to full capacity, then you’re essentially paying for empty space.

Takes Up Less Room

If you’re limited in space or have accessibility issues, then ordering a huge skip can create other problems.

A small skip can be easily delivered and placed where you need it so that it is convenient for you to use and isn’t causing any obstructions.

Convenient

Your home improvement or garden makeover may be a task that will take you a few days, so having one of our small skips for a week will allow you to fit in your tasks around work and rest!

It’ll allow you to use the skip at your convenience without mess and rubbish on your property which could hinder your progress. It also means no back-and-forth trips to the tip.

Other Points to Consider

Before ordering your small skip there are a few things to think about to ensure it’s the best choice for the job:

  • Plan ahead and break down any old furniture to leave enough space in the skip
  • Ensure the skip you’re ordering is big enough for the job. If you have a large garden or are clearing multiple rooms to clear, you may need a larger skip
  • Consider the space that you have outside – can a skip fit on your drive? Will the skip have to go on the street outside your home? KCM can arrange permits if you don’t have a driveway.
  • Some items cannot be placed in our skips, such as: commercial paints and solvents, mattresses, tyres, fridges & freezers, asbestos, large electrical items, clinical waste, hazardous waste, fluorescent tubes, batteries, oil, petrol & diesel. You’ll have to arrange alternative removal of those items.
